Gwenyth Raven (neé Randolph)

If you know your history you’ll see how far we’ve come,
Let the Light surround you, there is so much to be done,
Education, evolution, ascension to the One.”

Quote: “The One is Female, and She is Angry!”
Concept: Angry feminist Pagan Celestial Chorus member
Description: Gwyneth Raven is 25 years old. She stands about 5′ 5″ tall and weighs 125 lbs. She has a long, straight brown hair, an oval face, and brown eyes with large round wire-rimmed glasses. She could actually be considered pretty if she made an effort to be, but she doesn’t feel the need or the desire to do so. She wears loose, thick sweaters and skirts, rugged shoes, and scarves, all in earth tones. She wears a large silver medallion of a pentagram on a silver chain around her neck.
Prelude: Gwyneth Raven (neé; Randolph) was interested in the occult for a long time, but was interested in feminism and social change for even longer. Her artwork was her medium of expression and her means of communicating these interests to the world. However, everything she did incurred the wrath of her older brother Victor, an insecure and grasping individual who had little worth himself and so to soothe his feelings would belittle the worth of everyone around him: his younger sister was his favorite target.
Finally, when Gwyneth was 21, Victor stalked through her art studio, tearing to shreds every one of her paintings, just a week before her first major gallery showing. Crushed by an attack not on her but on her work, she wandered the streets, thinking of committing suicide. She was found by a friendly Catholic priest and talked out of committing suicide. Only later did she wonder about it, since she had long since discarded any feelings towards her parents’ Catholic upbringing. The priest noted the unAwakened power within her and told her of the true history of the World. With his assistance her Avatar Awakened.
This priest, Father Stephen, became her Mentor. He spent several decades in the fight against the powers of the Technocracy and other dark powers, as well as traveling the world. He helped her to understand her gifts, both magickal and mundane, more fully.
Magick: Her holy symbol and focus for all of her magick is the silver pentagram medallion she wears on a chain around her neck, even though she has progressed beyond truly needing it.
Backgrounds: Gwyneth has a strong Avatar, which shouldn’t be surprising. Her Mentor is a minor deacon in the Chorus but a wealth of information on a variety of topics. It was through her that Gwyneth developed the connection to her dreaming state, and she keeps a pad and pencil by her bed at all times: at other times she uses her sketchpad as a focus for her Dreaming.
Merits: Gwyneth possesses a most rare ability, especially rare, think her Celestial Chorus colleagues, in a pagan, of True Faith. To her, the argument is pointless: she is touched by the Divine, even if it doesn’t resemble the patriarchal and parochial views of her fellow Chorus members. [True Faith (7)]
Flaws: Because of a childhood allergy, Gwyneth is allergic to cigarette smoke. [Allergy: cigarette smoke (1)] Unfortunately Gwyneth not only lacks tact, but is many times downright rude and obnoxious; in fact, she has a reputation for that. She possesses an especially sharp tongue against anyone she feels is bigoted or against feminist ideals. [Intolerance: bigotry, anti-feminism (1), Notoriety (3)] And all the while she is biding her time until she feels strong enough to battle her personal demons and physical opponents, particularly the man who almost drove her to commit suicide: her own brother, whom she believes has become a Technocracy pawn. [Vengeance (2)]
Equipment: Book of Shadows (3‑ring notebook); drawing pad; several pens and pencils of differing colors; large, fringed purse with shoulder strap.
Roleplaying Hints: Gwyneth’s main strength is knowledge and observation, but her True Faith and healing abilities can come in handy in a tight spot.
