Merlin’s Song

The following was a piece of poetry I wrote about Merlin, the son of Corwin and Dara, the character I most identified with from the first Amber series. It was published in the Amber fan group’s fanzine “Shadow Shiftin’ ”.

Merlin, Merlin,
Child of Chaos.
Merlin, Merlin,
Child of Amber.
Son of Dara, son of Corwin.
The twin tides pull, now where do you go?

Merlin, Merlin,
Met his father.
Merlin, Merlin,
Left the Courts.
Renounced the Chaos, joined Amber.
Walked the Pattern, now where do you go?

Merlin, Merlin,
Lives in Shadow.
Merlin, Merlin,
Life is threatened.
Your Ides of March is April’s end.
Hunters unknown, where do you go?
