Expansion

The search form and functionality is a significant step above what WordPress offers, but it still can be improved. The following expansions are under consideration:

• Add the functionality to specify the amount of text returned on the results page, down just to listing the search result page or post title and link.
• Determine the cause and rationale behind why the ‘post_type’ search parameter is being modified prior to the search. (This is more of an annoying “itch to scratch” item than anything else.)
• Add search parameter highlighting to the displayed text.
• Find some way to remove unwanted text such as the internal code generated by the NextGEN gallery display shortcodes.
• Add jQuery coding to detect and signal blank search entries instead of passing a blank query along to the search functionality, as a blank search parameter is not accepted by the search functionality.
