A Most Worthy Cause

Its not what I planned for my first official blog post, but this is something very worth mentioning.

Steve Creech is a friend of mine. He was my game master and dungeon master for a number of games and campaigns, most especially the one that I created the characters of Chime and Duncan. He’s also known in the gaming community and he edited and bought a piece I wrote for “Torn Asunder” which was published by Bastion Press.

Well, he is in some difficulty. Back in April, he suffered what apparently was some form of aneurism, fell and suffered a concussion. He was unconscious for several hours and wound up in the hospital for several days. That wasn’t the end: he also suffered a range of medical problems including drug allergies and yet another stay in the hospital, plus a false diagnosis of bacterial meningitis in the following weeks. Since then, his mental state is varied: on some days he is very coherent then some times he’s barely able to care for himself. There is still no word on what actually happened or is happening. The tests may not be finished until October.

His wife stayed home from work to care for him so they lost income and neither have insurance. Now they’re looking at medical bills with big numbers on them with more in the future: at least one specialist costs $1000 for just an office visit. That is why they started an IndeGoGo campaign to help defray them.

As a favor to him, I drove down to his house and taped a short video of him and his wife explaining their situation and did a short editing job to produce the video, taking images they took of him in the hospital to cover the edits. This is what I came up with.
